How to Volunteer
The first step is to apply. The 2018 volunteer application will be live in the coming months.
After that, we will contact you with instructions on completing the process. This includes providing us with some signed statements, a police record check including a vulnerable sector check, and undergoing our abuse prevention training. Once you’re approved, we will send you a promo code that you can use to register as a volunteer.
What’s the Cost?
We are asking our volunteers to buy a $20 volunteer ticket for P2C PLUS. This will help cover some of the costs associated each person who is at the hotel. You will receive a handbook, nametag, and any necessary training, communication and resources relevant to your role(s). The details for how to buy this ticket will be sent to you once your application here is approved.
After purchasing your volunteer ticket on Eventbrite, you will get the information needed to book a hotel room directly with the hotel at our conference rate that is available till December 12th.
If you are able to provide your own accommodations (eg. staying with a nearby friend or relative) then there is no further cost.
Questions and Answers
Do I need to attend the entire conference as a volunteer?
No. Even though it is more helpful to have volunteers who can attend the whole time, you may opt to volunteer for the amount of time you are available. Certain roles will not be available for volunteers who cannot attend the entire conference.
How do I know when I have been selected as a volunteer?
Someone from Power to Change will contact you and inform you of next steps.
Are meals included?
No, meals are not included, you can bring your own meals or choose from a variety of restaurants near the hotel.
If I am not needed to volunteer at a particular time, can I attend workshops/New Years Eve party, etc.?
Yes, as long as you are not needed in a volunteer position at that time.
